Governor Bill’s Thoughts….

Hello fellow District 7430 Rotarians, each month I will send a short paragraph of our district happenings to be included in your club newsletter.  If you want more information, please see our District Newsletter at www.rotarydistrict7430.org.

My wife and I have begun visiting our 7430 clubs and are learning about the fantastic things you are doing.  By mentioning a few, I hope all of you will join me in “Catching the Rotary Pride”!   We  recognized seven Conrad Weiser members who have a combined 275 years of Service above Self, enjoyed an evening  picnic at the Lehigh Gap Nature Center in a pavilion built and furnished by the Slatington club, congratulated two scholarship recipients at the Hamburg club and accepted a $2000 donation to the Polio Plus Fund from the Harleysville club.  WOW!

Now to important dates for your calendars….First is the opportunity to apply for a District Simplified Grant (this is a portion of the returned Foundation funds from Rotary year 2008-9).  Please see the application criteria in the District Website Foundation tab.  The applications are due on October 7^th.  Secondly, clubs have the opportunity to apply for up to $250 from the District Marketing/Membership/PR pool of $5000.  Please mark your calendars for Rotary Leadership Institute on September 17^th which is an important venue for club leadership and newer members.  Your Foundation Chair is encouraged to attend the Foundation Seminar on October 1^{s t} which will give important information for funding.
